Last night we heard from two education graduate students, Janet and Veronica, about how we can help our learners identify and develop learning strategies. They also emphasized the utility of self efficacy, which we can put into practice by setting/discussing goals before, during, and after our tutoring sessions. Another exercise we can use at site is asking our learners comprehension questions during a close reading. Below is a picture of some questions we can ask our learners to gauge how well they are understanding the text. How can we better equip ourselves as tutors to emphasize self efficacy among our learners?
